Hi,
I have added the following to my Cisco 2950 L2 switch, but don't seem to get an IP address, any ideas?
ip dhcp pool vlan29
network 192.168.25.0 255.255.255.0
default-router 192.168.25.1
dns-server 192.168.25.1
lease 0 2

According to the configuration guide the 2950 cannot act as a DHCP server. The 2955 switch can however.

Hi Jon,
It just confused me the fact that I could add it.
Now I have a 3650 trunked off this 2950, can this provide DHCP for the 2950's VLAN's?
Thanks

The reason you could add it is because the 2950 and 2955 share the same code base and the 2955 can act as a DHCP server. So the commands are still available for the 2950, they just don't work.
Yes the 3560 can act as a DHCP server -

Great!
Does this mean it could serve the VLAN's on the 2950 with IP addresses through the trunk?
Thanks

Yes it does. As long as the vlans are included on the trunk clients connected to the 2950 should be able to get IP addresses from the 3560.
