Hi all, when we setup a full 3 tier network, core, access ,dist layers,
Can anyone tell me why we need to link the core routers directly to one another? when we have the distribution switches connected to both cores and load balanced using ospf, how much traffic will actually need to use the link between the cores ?

Hi,
1.That will give additional redundancy
2.Direct link/port-channel between cores , will also give one hop less to the other core.
HTH..rate if helpful...

hi there, can you elaborate on this?
Will I be right in saying, whilst the link between cores is up, traffic will flow through it, if the link went down, then the traffic would flow to the other core via a distribution switch ?
