Well, if you're considering going to LMS 3.0, you should consider 3.1 instead. The cost will be the same. Some of the major new features include:
* New CiscoWorks Portal which allows for homepage customizations, and dashboard setups.
* New configuration wizard to help with server setup and troubleshooting.
* Dynamic User Tracking shows when users log in and out of the network in near real-time.
* SNMPv3 authPriv is supported.
* Reports can be attached in emails.
* No more Java Plug-in (Campus Manager still requires Java Web Start on the clients).
* RME now scales to 10,000 devices, and other apps to 5,000.
* Jobs can be scheduled, and properly operate on dynamic groups.
* The baseline compliance workflow has been enhanced.
* Support has been added for non-CDP based discovery algorithms.
* IPM supports sub-millisecond reporting.
* Device Center can aggregate data from multiple servers.
* Certain Campus Manager discrepancies and best practice deviations can be fixed from within the Campus Manager UI using Cisco recommendations.
* Support is added for external TFTP servers for SWIM jobs.
This just names a few of the highlights.
