Data Extraction using DEE

Is it possible to get data from the database using the DEE or other API regarding whether the "Device" is a router or a switch? When we use the DEE to extract data, we would like to know if the network device is a switch or a router. Is this possible, if so how?

Once you have a device's sysObjectID, you can match that sysObjectID up to a group in NMSROOT/lib/classpath/com/cisco/nm/cwcs/mdf/mdfdata.xml. This is file used by Common Services to build the device type groups in the device selector. You would need the DEE data for this. A DCR export would give you the sysObjectID and the MDF ID, both of which could be used to map to a device group in the MDF.
