I m having internet router 2600 series..

Which has 2 mbps leased line circuit.. Recently we have upgraded 2 mpbs to 4mbps.. Now traffic is flowing through both interfaces int s0/0 and s0/1..

which is having static route

ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 s0/0

ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 s0/1

How traffic is flowing through both interfaces .. Both having static route and administrative distance also same.. when the packet reaches router, how packets forwarded to the interfaces..

Hi,

1.In show interface are you seeing input/output count increasing for both interfaces ?

2.You can usually use the show ip route command to find equal cost routes , as added by you as static default routes.

3.There is an asterisk (*) next to one of the route block entries . This corresponds

to the active route that is used for new traffic by the router.

4.The term 'new traffic' corresponds to a single packet or an entire

flow to a destination, depending on the type of switching configured.

5.For process-switchingload balancing is on a per-packet basis and the asterisk (*) points to the

interface over which the next packet is sent.

6.For fast-switchingload balancing is on a per-destination basis and the asterisk (*) points to the

interface over which the next destination-based flow is sent.

7.Based on routing table lookup for process switching packet will be sent to appropriate interface

input /output count is increasing on both interfaces..

As per your suggestion only one static route at a time will it work???

How the traffic count increasing on both interfaces..?
