New device with same IP address

When we upgrade a device, say from 4006 to 4506, and assign the same ip address, the device name and type don't update in the database. Should this happen automatically via discovery, or do we have to manually delete the old device? LMS 3.0.1 with RME 4.1.1, thanks

If the device type changed, you're looking at a conflict. RME will not manage conflicting devices until you resolve the conflict. Given that the currently archived configs and inventory are invalid for this device, you might find it easier to delete the device from DCR, then re-add it.
