Is it possible to encrypt the contents of NVRAM on Cisco 7513 and 6509 routers? I'm concerned about routers that are being sent out for repair and someone potentially observing sensitive configuration details in the NVRAM. I already have enable secret encrypted passwords, but I'm worried about someone physically looking at the data stored in the RAM not from the a router console. If encryption is not possible, do any Cisco routers have removable NVRAM? Thanks in advance.
I understand your concern but I guess there's no encryption available for configuration stored in NVRAM. If you are sending your router out for a physical repair, I guess the best that you can do is save the configuration to a FLASH drive or computer and then erase the configuration on the router.
In this case, it won't bother you if the service engineer checks your start-up configuration.
