PIX IOS upgrade

Answered Question
Oct 9th, 2008

I have a PIX 515 with IOS 6.3.

1) I'm trying to upgrade to IOS 7.0 but can't seem to find the download for it. All I see here is router IOS: http://tools.cisco.com/support/downloads/go/Redirect.x?mdfid=268438303

Are they one in the same?

2) When I upgrade from 6.3 to 7.0, what major alterations will I need to make to the existing running-config? Right now it is a pretty basic firewall. Basic port forwarding, statics, and a few VPN user groups are in, but that's about it.

Thanks for any help.

Still learning the Cisco Firewall side of the world.

I have this problem too.

Scott,

If you have cco access to download area go directly here. The code for PIX platform is found here as well.

http://www.cisco.com/cgi-bin/tablebuild.pl/pix

Also from the same link above another link, this one to provide you with all you need to know requirements, depricated commands etc..prior to upgrading code.

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/security/asa/asa70/pix_upgrade/upgrade/guide/pixupgrd.html

Thanks, Jorge!

That's exactly what I needed!

I have no idea how you found that link, but I was searching all of Cisco's site. Gah.

Thanks again!
