Router reliability 255/255, txload 41/255, rxload 151/255

Can someone please explain

reliability 255/255, txload 41/255, rxload 151/255.

This is the serial interface on a Cisco 2600 router.

Does this mean that rxload for example 151/255 is more then 50% saturated receiving from the carrier to the router? Or is the rxload indicate the amount of traffic received from the LAN and Txload is transmitting out of the serial interface to the upstream router? Also what does these numbers actually represent?

Thanks in advance!

Hello,

255/255 is 100% utilized so your at 151/255 which is about 60% of the RX/Receive bandwidth on your serial link. The TX is the outgoing direction on your Serial link.

These numbers have nothing to do with how much traffic is flowing across your LAN segment . It just what percent of traffic/BW utilization is going in and out bound via your serial link.

Thx Steve

Hello Robert,

reliability 255/255 is good news means the l2 keepalives are sent and received with 0% loss the link is healthy

tx load 41/255 means that outgoing traffic as measured by interface counters (influenced by load-interval command) is 41/255 of max

rxload 151/255 means received traffic is more then 50% of link bandwidth

you can verify by yourself in sh interface going down to lines of input and output rates

and compares them to stated bandwidth

(bandwidth can be configured is not the link physical speed)

Hope to help

Giuseppe
