IP Phone Plugged Into Port Wont Come Up

I am plugging an IP 7970 phone into the FastEthernet1/1 WIC card on a 2811 Series router. I cant get the line protocol to come up. I have tried different cables. I configured the interface as follows

Router(config)#interface fastEthernet 1/1

Router(config-if)#switchport voice vlan 10Router(config-if)#switchport access vlan 1

Router(config-if)#no shutdown

I am guessing I am missing something really simple here.

Niall, nice to hear that you resolved the issue.

I remeber doing the same thing once while doing OSPF lab, after spending some good time I fured out that the cable was connected on a wrong interface :)

Hi Niall,

I am not sure which Module you are using in the router to connect the phones.

Are you using HWIC-4ESW module or something similar.

What happens if you connect a PC directly to this interface.

Please make sure that if the module which you are using supports PoE. Else make sure that you are using an external power supply for the phone.

Thanks for the response

I was actually able to resovles the issue. I had plugged the cables into the wrong interfaces. I was reading the interfaces incorrectly on the WIC card.
