Hello,
Can any one explain to me why you have to configure a domain-name (ie. www.cisco.com) when configuring ssh in a switch?. Where do you use that domain name?
Thanks.

if your router is doing DNS lookups then you would want to set the correct domain name for your environment. However if you are just configuring for ssh yes you really can use whatever you want. Try and pick something relevant to your company.

host name and domain name configurations in the router are used to generate rsa keys.

Hello johnlloyd_13
Is there any other usage for the domain-name besides that it's configuration is required to configure ssh? Do you just write whatever domain-name comes to your mind?
