hi

iF i have 4 switches connected together an i need to change the mtu size to 1504..can i change the size on just 2 of the swithes and let the other 2 on their default size(1500)

Hello Ali,

you should have the same MTU on all of them otherwise users connected to different switches can have different capabilities.

STP mode is not a related issue, an increase in MTU can be needed to support 802.1Q trunking (I suppose for the 4 additional bytes)

I would think of L2 MTU

standard : 1518

baby giant /802.1Q capable: 1522
