routing issue

Hi,

Has someone else see a routing behavior as seen in the trace route above? any idea why:

1. First why does some hops doesn't have the number at the left? as if this does not count as a hop and a TTL decrement.

2. why should this be happening? at the end the packet arrive to the destination.

If your phones are not working well do you have QOS on the links to prioritise the Voice related traffic ?

You get multiple entries without an index number where the router has multiple routes to the same destination so it uses both at that hop.

Jon

thanks Jon,

so this means that this is not a routing loop? is just that packets are going throgh two different routes at this hops.?

Your'e correct. If packets get caught in a routing loop they don't break out of it they just go round and round until the ttl runs out.

Jon

This behavior is normal?

actually PCs are running well, but the voice (phones are not registering) is not working well. Could this be the reason?

I'll check this on.
