SFP+ Backwards compatible to 1G Base T SFP?

On a Nexus 5000 switch with SFP+ modules. Can I stuff the switch with SFP modules for 1G BASE T via RJ45 use?

I need a 10G switch with SFP+ and a dozen or so 1G BASE T with room for minor expandability.

Thanks!

The 1G BASE-T SFPs are typically wider at the front of the module than a standard SFP. Thus, I would suspect the electrical SFP modules would interfere with adjacent SFP modules.

I have experienced this with other pluggable-based equipment. But, I do not know if this is the reason it is not listed in the compatibility matrix.
