DRE and CIFS Cache

I am looking for information on how to look at the current and max size of both the DRE and the CIFS cache. I am also interested in understanding the aging process for each of these caches as well. I want to tell my customer how long he can expect to have second pass performance after a first pass. I cannot find anything to this effect in the config or Design guides

Robert,

In WAAS 4.1 you can use the 'sh disk det' CLI command. The CIFS object cache is obj1 and the DRE cache is dre1.

The CIFS object cache is managed using LRU. The DRE cache is managed using FIFO.

Zach, I tried this CLI on a 4.1 device and couldn't see an Obj1 or Dre1.

Also, what is LRU.

FYI: I just installed a WAE this weekend. I ran the command just as I was installing it, the dre1 and obj1 did not show up until later. Probably because it was not optimizing traffic at the time and had no cache.

I appreciate your response and this command works great on my core wae, but this command does not seem to work on the Network modules, unless I can assume that the SYSFS is the CIFS Cache and the Content is the DRE Cache.

It depends on what code you are running. If you are running 4.1 you will see the obj1 and dre1.

Odd, I've tried it on my 502s, 512s, 612s. All running 4.1a and I don't see the Obj1 or Dre1 information. I've done a SH VER on all to confirm the builds.

How can different people be seeing different results?

hm. Maybe there is a difference between 4.1.1.23 and 4.1.1a.10. I am running 4.1.1a.10. Or possibily there is a difference between a Tranport License and the Enterprise license being enabled.

I also have a 4.1.1a.10 version and an Enterprise license. Only difference I can see is yours was set by Admin, and you have Video enabled.

That is very odd. You can also look at the DRE with the below command if the other is not working. Hopefully that one works.

I'm running 4.1.1a and I don't get those obj1 or dre1 entries either.

How do I get a sysreport? is it a sh tech you want?

You can generate a system report with the command:

copy sysreport ...
