Not sure entirely what you're trying to do with the card readers, but for example you have a sales group processing credit card payments and they just need connectivity -- most card readers accept an analog line which is used to dialup a payment gateway/bank. That line can be extended from an analog gateway (FXS VWIC port, VG-224/248, etc).

Hope that helps,

Will

Thanks,

Thats what I exactly wanted.

How is ATA? will it work with this kind of application?

Ata will work although they can be a pain sometimes. They only support speeds up to 14kb/s... From personal experience i would strongly suggest using FXS.

Thanks,

Another issue is the fax machines, many number of old and new fax machines in different brands.

Will ATA give pain for fax as well? should we go for FXS?

For your old fax machines you may find that the ATA is perfectly adequate, on the other hand it is not suitable for G3 because it does not support rates beyond 14.4K.

Take a look at the following document, it highlights some common ATA FAQs:-

If you are looking at consolidating your analogue devices then you should perhaps condiser the VG224:-
