Solved: Can ping routers and swithces but not the end host

Hello... I have the following in a home lab: PC1----SW1----R1----R2----SW2----PC2, I have configured IPs and static routes, I can ping from PC1 to all equipments/interfaces but not to PC2 and in the same way I can ping from PC2 to all equipments/interfaces but not to PC1....... is this something of configuration in the hosts?

Hello Francisco,

check default gateway on both PCs it has to be the correct one. (R1:lan for Pc1, R2:lan for PC2)

then check if they have a software firewall running in windows xp or later it can be enabled by default

1. Check firewall settings on PC1 and PC2 if its blocking ICMP/pings or not?

2. What are the default gateway on the PC1 (should be R1's ethernet interface ip) and PC2 (should be R2's ethernet interface ip)?

3. There should be one route on R1 for network of PC2 pointing towards R2. And on R2 one route for PC1 network pointing to R1.

Do a traceroute from PC1 to PC2 and post results?
