I have a cisco 1720 router runing ver 12.1(2) it is at a remote site on the end of a t-1.. I want to see bandwidth type usage but dont know the command to give so i can see that.

you can make use of show interface serial x/x to view the byte counters which gives you a fair idea about the utilisation of the links.
