How can I achieve synchronization of the Cat 6500 vlan-group definitions. VTP domain only updates the 'sh vlans'

yet, the 'show firewall vlan-group' does not display the assigned vlans.

Unfortunately you can't, you just have to manually assign them on each switch. It is a pain especially as if the 2 switches have inconsistent vlan-group definitions this can break FWSM failover.

After configuring failover on FWSM, the hostname on the secondary unit gets overwritten. Can this be avoided. I would like to identify via the hostname that which one is active.

Regards.

Use Prompt command on primary to recongnize which one is active.

prompt hostname context state

Will add sate (primary/secondary) to the prompt.

Your prompt will show you if you are working on an Active or Standby FWSM
