Redistribution into OSPF and cost calculation

I'm redistributing RIP and connected subnets into OSPF domain. I forced the redistributed routes to be metric-type 1.

According to my configs, redistributed RIP routes will get a 30 metric value, and connected redistributed routes will get a 20 metric value.

However, I have other metric values on the output of "show ip route".

Redistribution occurs on router C (R0).

Hello Wassim,

what you see is correct.

O E1: the seed metric is counted together with metric to get to the ASBR

so you have a 64 offset that is the ip ospf cost of R5 serial interface to reach R0 /RC

do a sh ip ospf int serx/y to verify this

so you get 84 or 94 metric

84= 20+64

94=30+64

Hope to help

Giuseppe
