question using hsrp

hello everybody, i am trying to migrate a hsrp configuration from l3 switches 3550 to router 2801. it goes like this

from:

isp1-35501-pix1

isp2-35502-pix2

35501----35502

pix1----pix2 (failover)

to:

isp1-router2801(1)-pix1

isp2-router2801(2)-pix2

router2801(1)----router2801(2)

pix1----pix2 (failover)

i want to sustitute the switches because i want to use the no used port in other stuff, so i think to use routers with a 4 switch module, and setup it this way

setup fe0/1 with isp address,

port1 of the 4port switch module to connect the two router using trunk,

and finally port2 of the 4port switch module to connect it to the outside interface of the pix (this is done with both routers)

what do you recommends?

I have this problem too.

You can configure multiple Hot Standby groups among Catalyst 3550 switches that are operating in Layer 3 to make more use of the redundant routers. To do so, specify a group number for each Hot Standby command group you configure for an interface.

The following URL will help you:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/switches/lan/catalyst3550/software/release/12.1_8_ea1/configuration/guide/Swhsrp.html
