Hello

We have a problem with our ospf configuration.

We have two area :

area 0 is the wan area

R2 - R1 is the major tunnel link

R1 - R3 is an adsl spare tunnel link

area 1 is the local area

R2 R3 R4 are on the same local network.

Other lan network are behind R4.

R4 redistribute his lan network to R2 and R3

R2 and R3 redistribute his wan routes to R4

Does the routers R2 and R3 may be border router at the same time between two areas

How to configure it

Thanks for your help

Hello Joel,

you can have multiple ABR routers between area 0 and area 1.

In some network designs this is always done for redundancy and fault-tolerance.

the ABR configuration is nothing special, the concepts behind it are not as easy.

router ospf 10

network 10.10.20.0 0.0.0.255 area 0

network 10.10.30.0 0.0.0.255 area 1

!

just the network area commands make the difference between an ABR and a router that has all its interfaces in a single area

Hope to help

Giuseppe
