flash is read only,unable to upgrade IOS for 2621XM router

Hi,

I am not able to upgrade the IOS for 2621 router.Please advise.

Hi,

Could you please let me know the below points

1)Total size of the flash

2) current size of the IOS

3)Proposed(NEW) size of the IOS

what is the DRAM size

and please let me know what error message your getting and also please post the error

Hi,

total size of flash is 48MB

Current size is 16 MB

Proposed(NEW) size of the IOS is 12 MB

DRAM Size is 64MB

Error is it says Device is Read only

Hi,

Plz provide the output of.

show flash

show ver and the name of the ios u want to upgrade.

Also let us know how are u dooing the upgraded the doc u are refering.

I have done some looking and I do not find any indication of what would cause the flash in 2621XM to be read only. But that does seem to be the case with your router. I believe that I had a similar problem a while back (different platform but its flash was marked read only). If my memory is correct I resolved the issue by doing a format of the flash, which erased all content on the flash, but produced a flash that I could write to. So I suggest that you try to format this flash and see if the result allows you to put a different IOS onto the flash.
