guys i am going to appear in ccie lab next year....i have used dynamips many times but as soon as bgp and otehr stuff isd added cpu utalizations goes beyond control.....so just thinking to buy routers.....can someone please recommand what sort of routers would be good.....will 2620 or 2621 will do the job ??? or do i have to buy 2600XM??? for swicthes i am thinking to buy 3550 as cant afford 3560....for FR swicth i guess 2522 will do....can someone add something .......as i am not sure what to buy and what to not....thanks guys for looking

You will be fine with 2600s and 3550s for a home lab. On our Web site we have a complete listing of features in the 3560 that are not in the 3550. Be sure to review that list. It is in our Resources area.

Also - take a look at the OS versions listed for the lab at Cisco.com and make sure the models you purchase can run those IOSs listed.

Thanks anthony for your kind reply.....just a qucik one do i have to purchase 2600Xm or normal 2600 will do the job (with fast ethernet not with normal ethernet like 2610 or similar) ?? thanks again and waiting for your kind reply

It really is more about the IOS you are running than it is the hardware model.

Check this site out www.cisco.com/go/fn

This will tell you what features you can do, with what equipment. One nice thing to keep in mind - you can always save a ton with lesser equipment, and then spend a fraction of the savings renting equipment to practice the other features.

Anthony thanks for your reply againa nd thanks for your time.....just a qucik one in your website(which is a gem for ccie's) i have seen how to put 2600xm router ios on 2610 which i really liked....now if i get all of 2610 for my lab and rent 2 3550 and 2 3560 will it do (keeping in mind that i already have 2522 as a FR)...th eonly thing with 2610 is it doesnt have any fastethernet??? on your website you have used mix of xm and normal 2610 and on top of some 3700 as well.....why you have 3700 any perticulat reasons....i can only afford 2610 at the moment if i get all of them......will i be good to simulate all your labs and ccie labs or do i need to buy otehr to filfull the whole lab scenario all i am asking is what does these router lacks in terms of ccie lab.....thanks and really appriciate your help
