Secondery Ip To serial

Dear sirs,

Its regarding the serial IP addresing.

sir,

is it possible to give the 2 ip address to a serial ?

if yes then please give the procedure.

Hello Sanju,

interface Serial0/1

ip address 30.1.1.1 255.255.255.0 secondary

ip address 20.1.1.1 255.255.255.0

Dear Arul,

i tried this on 3600 series of router but it gives me the follwing error message" /24 is bad subnet mask"

the commands are :

router(config)#ip address 172.16.1.0 255.255.255.0

router(config)#ip address 172.16.2.0 255.255.255.0 secondary

/24 is bad subnet mask .

please give solution for the above.

Sanju,

172.16.2.0 /24 is network id for this pool..

Try 172.16.2.1 /24 as secondary ip.
