Dear,

I have done the following exams on the track to CCSP.

Kindly give your valuable advice.

Hi Gopakumar,

First off, you are most welcome! Glad to help. Your CCIP Cert will not help to bypass the SND and there is no overlap in exams between the two Cert Paths. The nice thing is that you have already passed two of the exams along the path to the CCSP and it sounds like you are very close to achieving the CCIP as well.

Hope this helps! And best of luck on your journey.

Hi Gopakumar,

If you started right away and passed the SND exam before November 17 of this year you would follow the "old" 4 plus 1 blueprint. If you wait to start, then the "new" 3 plus 1 model will be required. Either way, you have completed 2 of the "Required" Exams.

The difference is that in the new 3 plus 1 model you also require the newly released "CCNA - Security" certification.

Cisco Certified Security Professional Prerequisite

CCNA Security

OR

CCNA + SND*

*SND last day to test is November 17, 2008.

Candidates for CCSP will now need only four exams (three required, one elective) with the introduction of the new CCNA Security as a prerequisite, instead of the five exams required today (four required, one elective). ** Retired exams that have been passed may be used towards exam requirements for three years.

***You will need 4 of these in the "old" model and 3 in the "new" model;

642-552 SND

Last day to test 11/17/2008

642-503 SNRS

642-523 SNPA

Last day to test 1/16/2009

642-524 SNAF

Available 8/29/2008

642-533 IPS

***You will need 1 of these in either model;

Elective Exam(s)

642-513 HIPS

Last day to test 11/17/2008

OR

642-591 CANAC

OR

642-544 MARS

OR

642-515 SNAA

Available 8/29/2008

Dear Rob,

Thank you for your post.

The details that you covered in the post was very helpful to me.

One more question, So my CCIP certification won't help to bypass the SND exam, is it?

Does the Cisco consider CCIP certification has one of the required exam for CCSP?

Please advice.

Regards

Hi, im sorry to interupt in the middle of the post, but im working towards my CCSP certification, but as of now i only got CCNA Sec and the elective; 642-591 CANAC.

Im gonna take the 642-523 SNPA before the last day to test, but would this mean i only need two of:

642-533 IPS

642-503 SNRS

642-524 SNAF

Or would the SNPA overtake the SNAF ?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Svein,

You are in great shape :)

You would need only two more of these;

642-533 IPS

642-503 SNRS

642-524 SNAF

Hope this helps!
