have two 1841 routers trying to set them up and test before deployment at the end of T1 point to point. this is my first T1 work need help. I have the T1 as showing up with line protocol down. what kind of cable would I need in a test environment to get them to communitcate?

this is for rj45 connection? a regular crossover would not work?

The connection looks like rj45 but a "regular" or Ethernet crossover will absolutely not work. A T1 crossover is significantly different than an Ethernet crossover.

Hai,
What is the type of interface is it a V.35 interface you can check using DCE/DTE cabling.
You should use the same encapsulation bothe end.(one interface shoud be DCE and other interface shoud be DTE)
if its an G703(E1 Controler) interface cable should be made in such a way TX Pair shoud Go to RX,RX Pair should go to TX
TX ----------------- RX
RX ------------------ TX
