Transcoding with CME3.3 and CME7.0

Hi, I used to do the transcoding on C2800 with image, adventerprisek9_ivs-mz.124-21(Mainline) and it was working. I don't use other CME or CCM, the sdspfarm registered to the internal CME v3.3.

After I upgrade the image to adventerprisek9-mz.124-20.T1, it doesn't transcode the call. The sdspfarm unit is registered to CME fine.

Can anyone tell me what's the difference in the new IOS?

Also, I noticed the minimal frame byte of G.711 is changed to 160 in the new IOS like below, could it be a issue? Thanks.

voice class codec 100

codec preference 1 g711ulaw bytes 160

codec preference 2 g711alaw bytes 160

codec preference 3 g729r8 bytes 20

codec preference 4 g729br8 bytes 20

codec preference 5 g723r63 bytes 24

You can't get CME to transcode codec when voice-class of multiple codec preferences is used in the call. CME does not do end-to-end codec negotiation between the two call legs to find out if it needs to transcode. It needs to be told to just do it. Hence, you need to force the two call legs to independently settle to the differing codec, by either using only one codec in the class or hard coding the codec in the dial-peers. When the bridging of the two legs fail, CME will insert the transcoder.

Thanks for your reply.

I upgraded the CME to 7.0 later on and tired SIP/G.711 and SIP/G.729 to H.323/G.711, both are working. It seems the router has a implied dial-peer for any incoming calls.

However, when I tried H.323/G.711/Faststart to H.323/G.729, it didn't work wheather I enable call start interwork in H323 configuration (The H.323 destination needs faststart and tunnelling enable).
