Manual VLAN configuration on VTP client

Hai,

I have a requirement to use the 4503 switch which is a cleint for one VTP domain for another network is L2 level. Whether can I manually creat my another network VLAN on the database of this client switch. Some ports of this switch need to have "Access VLAN" configuration while there will be a trunk port allowing this access VLAN to connect to another network.

Does these configurations work.

If i have understood you correctly then you can't have a switch in client mode and then configure new vlans in the vlan database on that switch. You have 2 options

1) Add the new vlans to the VTP server switch and have these vlans on all switches and use pruning or vlan allowed to restrict where the traffic for these vlans can go.

2) Convert the switch to VTP transparent. It will still have all the vlans it had when it was a client and you can then add new vlans to it.

If i have misunderstood please come back.

Jon
