X25 protocol translation question

Hi, I have a legacy X25 host that talks to an IP based system, they are both connected to a router which performs protocol translation from X25 to TCP.

If I disconnect the Ethernet interface (which connects to the IP system), I'd expect to see the X25 call dropped immediately, but it doesn't. It takes about 20 seconds to time out.

Can anyone tell me if this is the default behaviour, or is there anything I can do to speed up the rate at which the call drops as it causes problems on the X25 host if the call doesn;t drop immediately

Many Thanks in advance

Dom

Dom,

X25 is an error free, guaranteed to be delivered protocol, that is what it does - no change required.

Solution = replace X25, with the more unreliable TCP/IP.
