Hi all, can anyone give me some info on the types and standards used in isp networks, for example we have about 5 sites that all connect to the providers mpls backbone, then connect to my head office. How do they handle the routing from all other companies in the core etc, where do they start the mpls tagging? I looked on the router at my site and could see no mpls commands etc.

hope someone can exlain this

Carl,

It is normal that the router at your site doesn't have MPLS enabled. This router is generally referred to as a Customer Edge router (or CE router). The mpls tagging as such starts on the router upstream from the CE router, which is generally referred to as Provider Edge router (or PE router).
