"ip route" commoand problem

Hi

When I add teh following route in I get the error:

router1(config)#ip route 89.187.75.134 255.255.255.0 10.44.30.1

%Inconsistent address and mask

Can someone please explain why teh error is happening, shouldn't it just take teh route.

Dan,

Try "ip route 89.187.75.0 255.255.255.0 10.44.30.1" instead.

Hi Dan,

You are trying to add a single host route with a Class C Mask.

You should change the mask to 255.255.255.255, with you only need a host route, or change the network address from 89.187.75.134 to 89.187.75.0, if you need to route all the Class C Address Range.
