catalyst 2900 switch could not work with another linksys switch

Hi all. I have a catalyst 2900 switch but when i connect it to another linksys EF2S24 switch using a straight cable, the LED on both connected ports on both switch just do not light up and there is no network connectivity between both switches. If i connect a 3rd switch between these 2 switches, everything works fine. I have reset my cisco catalyst swtich to factory default and the only thing i can toggle on my linksys switch is mdi and mdix which i tried for both settings but to no avail. Is there anything i should set on my cisco catalyst 2900 switch? Thks in advance.

Try with a cross-over cable.

I would say the mdix function on the linksys is not working right , if it was working correctly it should come up with the 2900 . whats the other switch you used ? Did that use mdix also ? After you changed the settings on the linksys did you try power cycling the linksys ?
