CCM 4.1(3) ringlist

Does anyone know if there is a way to have different phones use different ringlists? I want to add new ring tones but not have them available to everyone.

Thanks,

Glenn

things like backgrounds, new rings, firmware, etc are not replicated you need to load them to every TFTP server manually. configuration files are replicated

unfortunately all phones look at the same files, the only way i could think of this would be to make phones look at a particular TFTP and separate them that way. one TFTP for phones that want a set of rings and other TFTP for all the other phones

Hi Glenn,

Just to add a note here to the great info from Java.

Here is a way of preventing specific users from changing the Ring Setting. Maybe you could use this method to restrict some of the users that you don't want to access the new Rings;

Users are unable to change the Ring Volume/ and Ring Type if you disable the Settings Access parameter on the Phone configuration page. Complete these steps:

From the Cisco CallManager Administration page, choose Device > Phone, and click the phone for which you want to prevent a ring type change.

Choose Disabled for the Settings Access parameter under the Product Specific Configuration section.

When Settings Access is enabled, you can change the phone network configuration, ring type, and volume on the phone. When you disable Settings Access, the Settings button is completely disabled and no options appear when you press the button. Also, you cannot adjust the ringer type, ringer volume or save any volume settings. The option Restricted is available in Cisco CallManager version 4.1(3) and later. When you change Settings Access to Restricted, you can only access User Preferences and volume settings. By default, Settings Access is enabled.

From this doc;

Hope this helps!

Rob

Thanks for the info. I did not think to restrict the settings access. I don't think that is going to work in my scenario however.

As far as changing the TFTP server, aren't the files in the TFTP directory replicated throughout all CCMs running TFTP? Wouldn't my ringlist.xml be replicated to all TFTP servers?

Thanks,

Glenn
