10Gig support

How many 16 port 10Gig cards are supported on Cisco6509-E switch populated with Vs-720-10G-3C supervisor and 8700W enhanced power supply ?


I have this problem too.

You can safely put 8 of these in a 6509-E chassis. so in totallity with Sup-720-10G you can have upto 130 10G ports in a single chassis. Each module take 28.6W per slot so its pretty safe to run these in 8 slots on a 6509E chassis.

The only restrictions i am aware of is that the module is not supported in a 6503 non-E chassis and obbviously in a 6513 chassis there are only certain slots it can go in because of the dual fabric connection. Other than that i can't see why you can't populate all slots in your 6509-E with them -
