I need to traverse 6 miles point to point. Does that mean I need to use the 1400 with a dish antenna? Does it also mean I need the N version at 28 db?

You could use the 1400 with integrated antenna. At full power they will go about 12 miles.

You could go with 60mW and you must be 36 feet above all obstructions.
