With regards to switch port settings, speed and duplex, for end devices - is best practive to set the speed and duplex or go with auto ?

Different people have different views to be honest.
Generally speaking i hardcode servers/printers and leave at auto desktops and laptops.

I used to hard-code servers & any static devices, however I have had issues with hard-coding due to Server OS & Driver faults. So now unless there is a specific requirement I never hard-code anything.
