Vty line not getting cleared

Even after reboot or issuing the

"clear line vty" the vty lines are not getting cleared......

Hello,

line vty are useful to telnet to the device,

clear line vty doesn't delete the line vty it just frees it if busy.

However, after a reboot / reload you should see only one line vty used the one you are on:

its lil funny, but do your user-Id have rights to clear the vty line..smtime we miss small things

Depends if you're accessing using your router as a Terminal Server over Octal cable.

Try "disconnect" command instead of "clear".

Router1#sh sess

Conn Host                Address             Byte  Idle Conn Name

*  1 dogg              192.168.239.1        151    14 dogg

Router1#clear line 1

% Not allowed to clear current line [OK]

Router1#

Router1#disconnect 1

Closing connection to dogg [confirm]

Router1#sh sess

% No connections open

Router1#
