hi every body!

let say we have a switch with two vlans vlan1,vlan2

port 1,port 2 are in vlan 1 and vlan 2 respectively, while port3 is being used as trunk.

now my question if we use the command " show vlan", how the port 3 will appear?

will port 3 appear being in vlan1, and vlan 2 because port 3 is trunk port?

thanks a lot!

If it's active, it will not appear on any Vlan as it's part of all Vlans.

If it's not active, it will appear on the trunk native Vlan, which defaults to Vlan 1.

It won't show up under the show vlan command.

Do a show int f0/3 trunk to see it.

port 3 will appear neither in vl 2, neither vl 3

show vlan command will output configured access ports, your ports 1 and 2. no trunk ports will be shown, your port 3. unconfigured ports by default will be placed in vlan 1

you can't see port 3 in any VLAN bcoz it is configured as a trunk port. If you use "show vlan" command it will show only access ports.

show vlan commad only show access port it will never show truk port.if you to identify your trunk port simple trick is that the missing port from your port list will be trunk port
