What would you configure on a access port

Hi guys,

I've been doing a bit of digging round Im trying to find what would be the best configuration to apply to my access ports in my environment.

I read things about flowcontrol, storm control, bpduguard, etc but am really unsure about what to apply?

As it is we have the ports defined as access ports, in the correct vlan, bpduguard enabled, spantree portfast, description, port-security, etc.

I want to ensure that all switchports operate optimaly, are protected, etc.

What else would people advise to enable?

Just throwing this out there for some suggestions and thoughts?

The devices I have at the access layer are 2960G, 3560E running latest IOS.

Thanks as always

Darren

Hey Darren,

1.Basic requirement is as you already have mentioned

description

access port

portfast

bpduguard

2.port security is additional as per the requirement

3.I don't think so , that you will require flowcontrol for basic requirement , as both input & output flow-controls are off by default.

HTH..rate if helpful..

Try this command

switchport mode access

spanning-tree portfast

this way access port is config and also port fast

thanks

mahesh

Thanks guys I had this enabled on the switchports already.

I've also added port-security to the access ports, with sticky enabled.

All is working well in the environment and Im now comfortable with the setup.

Cheers,

Darren
