Hi,
Can anyone help me understanding what are PowerPC platforms.
Also if you can provide me URL which tells me what all models of Cisco routers/devices are based on PowerPC platform.
Thanks in advance.

Hello Sourabh,
PowerPC is a family of general purpose processors developed initially by Motorola and IBM and used on Apple MACs (not the current one that are intel based).
From our point of view is important to note that PowerPC processors are used in routers and in route processors. In any case they are RISC processor so when needed the procedures for them apply.
For example, PRP-1 route processor for GSR 12000 has a 667 MHz PowerPC processor as main processor.
C7600 / C6500 Sup720 3C 3CXL have PowerPC main processor:

while sup720 up to 3BXL have a MIPS RISC processor.
ASR 1000 have it on the route processor

I think some software based routers can also have a PowerPC processor.
cisco 7201
with Motorola 7448 PowerPC

Hi Giuseppe,
Thanks for the explanation.
Could you please let me know if the 2800 and 3800 use the PPC or the MIPS64.
Any supporting URLs will be helpful.
