Trunk Port Config

I have 2 2960 switches. I am doing VLAN's and I am trying to configure my trunk ports. On my port I am trying to enter "switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q" but the switch will not take the command. If I enter "switchport trunk ?" the encapsulation option is not there. Is this a feature which is only available on layer 3 switches?

The 2960 switch only supports 802.1q encapsulation ie. it doesn't support ISL encapsulation.

Because it only supports dot1q you don't get the option to configure it.
