Can't open IPS device manager from Cisco Security Manager

Cisco Security Manager is used to manage an ASA5510 with AIP-SSM-10 IPS blade.

CSM is running version 3.2.1 (service pack 1)

AIP-SSM-10 is running version 6.2(1)E3

When I right click the IPS in CSM and choose "device manager" the "old style" IPS GUI starts to load and the following error message shows: "Sensor minor version is lower than the supported version". Shortly after, a new error message shows: "Error connecting to sensor. Failed to load sensor - null. Exiting IDM".

If I use ASDM or IME there is no problem at all. The sensor works fine otherwise.

Does anyone have a workaround for this except from having to downgrade the IPS software?

This issue is due to the presence of Cisco bug ID CSCsc92316 and occurs most often in the Intrusion Prevention System (IPS) version 5.1(1).The IPS almost always encounters this issue when these conditions are met:

Bypass mode is enabled, for example, Auto_on.

The SensorApp fails to respond to control transaction (CT) requests and so the Error: getAnalysisEngineStatistics : Control transaction cannot be completed at this time error message appears.

The SensorApp appears to run in the top, and the processes system (PS) output, memory and CPUpercentage appear normal. There are no core.txt files for sensorApp or old core.txt files. The Cids-shared.info shows zero free buffers, for example, Free Buffers 0 (0%), but this is not always the case. For example, it can also show 80 percent FreeBuffers.

Have you tried removing and re-adding this device into CSM?
