I am using the CiscoView Device Manager and trying to create a CSR to send to Verisign. The wizard is called Certificate Trustpoint setup. On step 4 it asks to specify the CA certificate PEM file from the client machine or copy and paste the PEM certificate.

I don't have a PEM file from a CA (Verisign) do I really need to have one to create a CSR and if so why? I have not needed this on other systems.

To generate a CSR, you first configure a Certificate Trustpoint. You then specify the attributes and enrollment method for the corresponding SSL certificate.

perform the following steps to generate a CSR.

1) Specify a Trustpoint and RSA key pair

2) Configure the SSL certificate's attributes

3) Configure the SSL certificate's enrollment method
