ASA v8 options for Remote Desktop (RDP)

Hello,

We recently purchased an ASA5520, including some WebVPN licenses.

I need to give our employees access to their desktops, using the Microsoft RDP protocol.

It seems I have a lot of options for how to do that. The first one I've tested is the web based RDP java plugin that Cisco provides. It works well, but I'm not sure I like the java RDP interfaces.

If I wanted to switch to using the Microsoft RDP client, what would my options be?

I know I could use the SSL VPN Client, and then use RDP through that. But that seems like a little bit of overkill.

I don't really understand the Port Forwarding or Smart Tunnels options. Would those be a valid option?

Thanks for the replies,

Shane
