zero downtime upgrade question

Can this only be performed on ASA appliances, or can it be done on a pair of PIX 515-E's, that currently run 7.x code, and we just want to bump it up another revision? And has anyone done a zero downtime upgrade and is it truly non-disruptive?

someone must have some experience with this?

I would also like confimation that when I upgrade a PIX failover set from 7.1 to 7.2, do I need to specify the boot file like I do on an ASA, or will they just boot to the new image I copy, provide I delete the current one?

pix'es running 7.x or 8.x also support zero downtime upgrade using failover pairs.

depending on your failover configuration, there might be some disruption. active http sessions might for example have to restart/refresh.

for the most part it works as advertised. if there is more than one bootable image in flash, you should specify which one to use. as well as asdm.
