hi every body!
if we configure the switchport as access port , should we disable the dtp to save unnecessary dtp messages on access port?
or configuring port as access port automatically disable the dtp?
thanks a lot!

For any user port use the "switchport host" command which shuts off trunking and etherchannel negotiation and enables portfast.

Hi,
Adding to Edison's post, DTP is point to point protocol negotiate trunking between 2 switches end points.
Quick note: DTP is not performed when switches have different VTP domain names.
