The problem is your trying to do install a upgrade package from rommon. You can only install system images using this method (IPS-4240-K9-sys-1.1-a-6.1-1-E2.img. To upgrade you need to reboot the sensor and let it come back up then issue:

(conf)#upgrade ftp://@X.X.X.X///IPS-K9-6.1-1-E1.pkg. By upgrading you will save all your config changes and sig tunings. Where as a system image will bring your sensor back to default configuration with the new image.

Hope this helps,

After upgration IPS-4240-K9-sys-1.1-a-5.0-2.img to IPS-4240-K9-sys-1.1-a-6.1-1-E3.img i am getting below message

There is no license key installed on the IPS-4240. The system will continue to operate with the currently installed signature set. A valid license must be obtained in order to apply signature updates. Please go to http://www.cisco.com/go/license

to obtain a new license or install a license. Its not going to promt mode ?

How can i go to ips configuration mode?

Any steps which are to be done first?
