This tool is not listing out most of the  phones while I am doing the power calculation. Is it an updated link ?

Hi Bobby,

Rather than list the phone models individually the calculator now lists the Power Classes down towards the bottom of the POE device page as shown below;

IEEE 802.3af Device - Class 1 (4W)

IEEE 802.3af Device - Class 2 (7W)

IEEE 802.3af Device - Class 3 (15.4W)

IEEE 802.3af Device - Class 4 (15.4W)

And then you can find out the power requirement for your desired models from the specific phone model data sheet. So for the 7800 series it is shown as;

The phone supports IEEE 802.3af PoE (Class 1); power consumption does not exceed 3.84 watts.

And if you were using 8851 and 8861 models you would use the following;

8851 -  IEEE Power over Ethernet class 3.

8861 -  IEEE Power over Ethernet class 4.

Yes, tim.giles is correct.

The Cisco® Power Calculator enables you to calculate the power supply requirements for a specific Power over Ethernet (PoE) configuration. The results will show output current, output power, and system heat dissipation. The Cisco Power Calculator supports the following Cisco product switching and routing platforms: Cisco Nexus 7000, Cisco Catalyst® 6500 Series, Catalyst 4500-E/4500 Series, Catalyst 3750-E/3750 Series, Catalyst 3560-E/3560 Series, Catalyst 2960 Series, Catalyst 2975 Series, Catalyst Express 500 Series, and the Cisco 7600 Series Router.

Hi Nilo,

The tool you have mentioned is quite outdated, is there any up-to-date power calculator available?

Hi Andrew,

I just checked the tool using the same link:

Guess this should be an updated one as its also listing Nexus switches.
