seting up a lab

Answered Question

Hi

I set up a loopback0 as 192.168.22.2 /16

and when setting up a s0 w/ 192.168.22.3 /16 . I get

labr1(config-if)#ip address 192.168.22.3 255.255.0.0

192.168.0.0 overlaps with Loopback0

now I did chng loopback0 to 1.1.1.1 and I and I am ok , but just need to know why the overlaps

Thanks

I have this problem too.

Routers will not allow you to have overlapping address space across multiple interfaces on the same router. Your subnet mask on loopback 0 covers IP addresses in the 192.168.X.X subnet, as does serial 0. You can change the IP address and/or subnet mask on either interface so they don't have overlapping subnets.
